One summer, I stepped into an antique mall and walked straight back into my childhood. Seeing the olive-green couches, the Thanksgiving dishes, and the marble bookends of my parents' home brought memories flooding back. Looking around, I realized everyone there was doing the same thing—searching for a beautiful piece of their own past.

That day, I found a stunning set of English fine china, and my obsession was born! What started as a personal collection quickly outgrew our home (much to my husband’s amusement). For me, these aren’t just old objects.

They are hidden treasures with their own stories, once loved by families just like yours and mine.

I created Vintage Finds by Gabby to share these stories with you. I passionately believe that history, character, and nostalgia shouldn't carry a luxury price tag. Everyone deserves to bring a little affordable beauty and warmth into their home.

Whether you are a lifelong collector or just looking for a piece that reminds you of home, I hope my finds bring a smile to your face.

Thank you for stopping by, and happy treasure hunting!

First created in 16th-century Venice, milk glass was an affordable alternative to fine porcelain.

Venetian Origins
Murano artisans produced an opaque white glass called lattimo, inspired by Chinese porcelain. They made it in shades of white, blue, pink, yellow, brown, and black.

The Victorian Era
The term “milk glass” emerged during the Victorian era, when it became popular as an inexpensive substitute for imported porcelain.

The American Golden Age
From the 1940s through the 1970s, American factories mass-produced milk glass in beloved patterns such as hobnail and grape. Notable makers included Fenton, Westmoreland, and Anchor Hocking.

Shaker Influence: The Shakers refined the ladderback design in the 19th century, prioritizing functional utility, clean lines, and lightweight structures [Antique Rocker, 19th Century].Appalachian / Country Style: Many traditional woodworkers across regions like North Carolina and Virginia produced similar "mule ear" or slat-back rockers using local hardwoods like oak, maple, or hickory [19th Century, Mid 20th Century, Virginia].

The "Ladder" Back: The chair gets its name from the three horizontal, contoured slats across the backrest, which resemble ladder rungs.Woven Rush Seat:

The seat is hand-woven using natural rush (often made from cattails, bulrushes, or twisted paper cord). This traditional technique creates a durable, slightly flexible seat with a distinctive four-triangle pattern meeting in the center [Stickley, Mid 20th Century].
